Founder and CEO Carolyn Galler has faced many challenges in her life beginning even at birth. One of ten children, Carolyn was the only one of her siblings to be given away to non-family members who later adopted her. Growing up, she struggled with feelings of abandonment and rejection. Though she loved her parents, she still struggled with the emotional turmoil that can affect many children who have been adopted. However, as she matured from teen into adult, she began to see the hand of God in her adoption and the reasons of why.
At the age of 7 years old, Carolyn would experience abuse for the first time; the perpetrator a woman and a stranger. The encounter would leave deep physical, mental, and emotional wounds and lead to years of wrong-choices and life-altering decisions. When she was 17 years old, she married her first husband. It would be the first of several marriages, each one more abusive than the next. In her deep longing and desire for love and a family unit of her own, she would ignore the Lord’s prompting, hoping that her abuser would see her worth and love her back unconditionally. Yet her abusers only made her feel ugly and that she could never be good enough.
During the years of her first marriage, Carolyn gave her life to God and started walking in her ministerial calling. She is convinced her relationship with Christ is the only thing that kept her safe and helped her overcome the physical, verbal, sexual and the mental abuse that she was facing. It also helped her to forgive her perpetrators, though it did not excuse their behavior. And even in the midst of her trials the Lord blessed her with 3 beautiful children. It might not have been the family unit she thought would make her whole but the love she had for her children gave her greater joy than she could ever have imagined. Carolyn’s continued hope and healing in Jesus, helped her finally see her worth, choose her and walk away from the abuse and her abusers.
Though the abuse might have ended Carolyn still had to go through a process of releasing all the hurt and anger that she still harbored in her heart. Today Carolyn’s experiences have made her a more compassionate and caring person. She can say out of ashes the Lord made beauty and out of the storm the Lord birthed her passion and calling. A passion to support hurting people, especially those who have faced or are currently facing abuse. She wants to help people overcome the stigma of abuse and move out of a wounded state to a place of healing and wholeness.
Carolyn went on to found U R Never Alone Outreach in 2017. Her background includes work with the federal government and the state. Carolyn served as a civil servant, a court appointed special advocate (CASA), a social service parent involvement aide and a prison minister and corrections facilitator. She also has training in sexual assault, assault response and psychiatric mental health. Today Carolyn is a licensed and ordained minister. She is a certified and trained Professional Life Coach through the American Christian Counseling Association. She is also an author and speaker with two published books titled “When We Said I Do But, He Didn’t” and “Adopted and Blessed.”
Carolyn and her team can’t wait to walk this healing journey together with you.
